What is Boston Universal Pre-K?
Boston Universal Pre-K (UPK) is a free, high-quality public pre-kindergarten program for children ages 3 and 4 who are residents of Boston. Funded and administered by Boston Public Schools (BPS), UPK offers over 3,000 seats at BPS schools and 1,500 seats across community-based organizations, independent schools, and family child care providers. The program follows a play-based curriculum aligned with BPS's Focus Curriculum, preparing children for future academic success.

Accepting an offer from one program does not affect eligibility or placement for another. Priority Registration:

If your child is currently enrolled in a Boston Pre-K program at a community provider, they have priority registration to remain at their current site. Priority Registration is open from November 15 to January 6. Contact your current provider for guidance.
