Child Care and Development Program

A "how to" guide to help you navigate the application process for Child Care and Development Program.

What is the Child Care and Development Program (CCDP)?

The Child Care and Development Program (CCDP), administered by Nevada’s Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) in partnership with The Children’s Cabinet for Northern NV, provides subsidies to low-income families. It helps cover licensed or approved child care costs so parents can work, train, or attend school. It also supports children with special needs up to age 13.

  • Waiting list: A new wait list applies to applicants as of April 2024.

  • Income eligibility is based on state median income (currently ≤ 41% for new applicants, ≤ 49% for renewals as of October 1, 2024).

  • Families may be placed on the list; once approved, payments begin to providers directly, minus any copayment.

What do the application steps look like?

  1. Apply via ACCESS Nevada, phone, mail, fax, or in person.

  2. Submit proof of identity, Nevada residency, income, purpose of care (e.g., work, education), child’s age, and any special needs documentation.

  3. You may be waitlisted due to capacity. Waitlists are reviewed monthly.

  4. When a spot becomes available, DWSS approves your case and issues a subsidy certificate.

  5. Select a licensed or license-exempt provider enrolled in CCDP and start care.

  6. Providers are paid directly for authorized hours after billing.
